Add Data Field

Adding a data field to the load definition file in the Load Definition File editor consists of the following steps:

Step 1

The first step is to select the Data Fields task in the DEFINITIONS task bar along the left side of the load definition file editor to activate the DATA FIELDS page if it isn't already activated.

Step 2

The second step is to select the Add Data Field task in the DATA FIELDS task bar along the right side of the DATA FIELDS page:

The Add Data Field dialog box will appear:

The Add Data Fields dialog box is composed of the following components:

Component

Description

Field Name

Use the Field Name edit box to specify the name used to access the associated data within templates.

Data Type

Use the Data Type select box to identify the type of data the data field will be referencing.

Attributes

The number of attributes for the data field if the Attribute data type has been selected.

Temporary Field

Use the Temporary Field checkbox to indicate whether the data field is temporary or not.

Step 3

The third step is to enter the Field Name for the data field being added:

When the Field Name is entered the OK and Apply buttons become enabled.

Step 4

The fourth step is to select the Data Type for the data field being added:

If an Attribute data field is being added, be sure to also specify the number attributes for that data field.

Step 5

If the data field being added will be used as a temporary data filed, be sure to check the Temporary Field check-box. After all of the components for the data field have been defined either click the OK button to add the data field and close the Add Data Field dialog box or click the Apply button to add the data field and reset the fields in the Add Data Field dialog box so additional data fields may be defined.

The data field is added to the data field list. Notice also the Delete Data Field and Edit Data Field tasks in the DATA FIELDS task bar are enabled.
