Add Data File Section

Adding a data file section to a package in the Load Definition File editor consists of the following steps:

Step 1

The first step is to select the Edit Existing Package task in the PACKAGES task bar along the left side of the load definition file editor to activate the PACKAGES page if it isn't already activated.

Step 2

The second step is to activate the package that the data file section will be added to and select the Add DFS task in the DF SECTIONS task bar along the right side of the PACKAGES page:

The Edit Data File Section dialog box will appear:

The Edit Data File Section dialog box is composed of the following properties:

Property

Description

Data Source Identifier

Name of the Data Source Identifier File that contains the locations of the files used to update that portion of the data-store and the associated indexes.

View Scanning Parameters

Identifies the Data File, end of record identifier and the identity field.

Data Parsing Information

Entries used to identify individual data fields within the input data.

Step 3

The third step is to enter the Data Source Identifer for the data file section being added:

The Data Source Identifier is the name of the Data Source Identifier File that contains the locations of the files used to update that portion of the data-store and the associated indexes.

Step 4

The fourth step is to enter the Base Token for the data file section being added:

The Base Token contains the core name for the Data Source File and the Record Deletion List within the data source identifier file.

Step 5

The fifth step is to enter the EOR Identifier for the data file section being added:

The EOR Identifier is the ASCII string usedto signal an end-of-record within the Data Source File.

Step 6

The sixth step is to enter the Identity Field for the data file section being added:

The Identity Field is the token used within the data file to identify the field that uniquely identifies each record.

Step 7

The seventh step is to enter the Data Parsing Information for the data file section being added:

Three buttons are provided for manipulating the data parsing information. These buttons perform the following tasks:

Data Parsing Information

Add Data Parsing Information.

Delete Data Parsing Information.

Edit Data Parsing Information.

Step 8

After all of the components for the data file section have been defined click the OK button to add the data file section and close the Edit Data File Section dialog box.

The data file section is added to the package. Notice also the Delete DFS and Edit DFS tasks in the DF SECTIONS task bar are enabled.
